Memorial University’s Senate is in charge of all academic matters at the university. Covid-19 has put so many additional pressures on graduate students’ well-being and research activities. If elected as Graduate Student Rep for Senate, I will ensure advocacy for a safe and systematic return back to campus that ensures graduate student success. As a student who completed their first year of grad school remotely in Saskatchewan, I understand the challenges graduate students faced in completing coursework, theses, or research.
Currently, there is no standing committee of MUN’s Senate on diversity and inclusion. With such a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body, it is essential that the Senate formulate strategies to foster inclusion. If elected, I will work with members to begin creation of this committee.
I am currently a first year Master of Management student at the Faculty of Business Administration. I completed my Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan. I have numerous years of governance and university involvement. My previous positions have included being one of four undergraduate representatives in a committee that met with senior USask leadership (Student Forum), a board member of a national cultural board, board chair of USask newspaper, in addition to many other roles in university clubs. Navigating governance is difficult but it is something I truly enjoy. As your representative I will work to ensure your voice is heard at the university-level.
