Congratulations Makayla for being the ‘GSU Graduate Student of the Week’

Makayla attended the IUCN Global Youth Summit as part of a delegation from an amazing organization called Students on Ice. She participated in many sessions and conversations covering various topics such as climate change, conservation efforts and importance, the need for environmental equity and helped lead a session. She is currently the professional development coordinator for the Biology Graduate Student Association (BGSA). She planned and led a workshop on info graphics throughout the fall and showed excellent tools for students to convey complicated research topics. She was also asked to be a part of a NEXUS brown bag lunch panel on info graphics and data visualization to share that presentation.

She led in planning and organizing a new online format for the BGSS with the new online environment, and with her effort, they had an amazing turnout. She proposed and helped create four interactive networking and professional development sessions in BGSA that students could attend.
