Sustainable Futures Awareness & Action Workshop

Event Overview:

Join us for an exciting and engaging Sustainability Awareness Workshop aimed at students at Memorial University. This event is designed to educate and inspire participants to adopt sustainable practices in our daily lives, with a special focus on recycling and sustainability efforts within St. John’s.

Led by local experts, this workshop will offer valuable insights on waste diversion programs and the broader climate action plans in place within the City of St. John’s and Memorial University. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive discussions and activities to better understand how small, individual actions can make a big environmental impact.

Workshop Speakers:

Shelley Pardy

Supervisor of Waste Diversion, City of St. John’s

Shelley will provide an overview of the city’s waste diversion program (Curb-it) and outline the city’s broader climate action plan.

Justin Dearing

Sustainability and Climate Action Officer, Memorial University of Newfoundland

Justin will discuss the importance of recycling and sustainability, while also providing an overview of Memorial University’s plan to address climate change.

What to Expect:

  • Interactive Activities: Engage in fun and insightful activities aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship.

Sustainability Focus:

In an effort to minimize waste at the event, we encourage all attendees to bring their own reusable water bottles and travel mugs for coffee or tea.
