Building Bridges, Amplifying Voices

Dear Members of the Graduate Students’ Union (GSU),

I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of Director of Communication. As a graduate student pursuing a master's in oil and gas at Memorial University of Newfoundland, I have developed a profound appreciation for the diverse, dynamic, and ambitious community that defines our GSU. It would be an honor to serve you in fostering stronger connections, transparent communication, and meaningful engagement.

Why Me?

With a background in chemical engineering and professional experience in customer care, social media, and retail environments, I bring a well-rounded skill set tailored to this role. My journey as a cashier, barista, electronics advisor, and customer care associate has honed my interpersonal and problem-solving skills. At the same time, my expertise in social media strategy equips me to elevate GSU's outreach and digital presence.

Vision for Communication Excellence

  1. Enhanced Transparency

Clear and timely communication is at the heart of my vision. I aim to ensure that all GSU members are informed about important decisions, events, and opportunities through concise newsletters, interactive updates, and open forums.

  2. Engaged Community

Our strength lies in our diversity. I will prioritize initiatives highlighting our unique voices, such as storytelling campaigns, cultural showcases, and collaborative projects across disciplines.

  3. Innovative Platforms

Leveraging cutting-edge tools, I will revamp our website and social media channels to make them more accessible, user-friendly, and engaging. We can ensure everyone feels included by integrating visuals, live streams, and multilingual content.

  4. Amplified Advocacy

Graduate students face numerous challenges, from funding to mental health support. As Director of Communication, I will amplify your concerns, ensuring they reach the right ears while highlighting the GSU's efforts to address these issues.

Call to Action

This role is not about speaking for you but about creating platforms where your voices are heard. Together, we can build a GSU that reflects and represents its members. Let us embrace innovation, celebrate diversity, and strengthen our community bonds.

I am eager to listen to your ideas, feedback, and aspirations. Your vote will empower us to create a vibrant and unified graduate community.

Thank you for your trust and support.

Warm regards,
